The Ministry of Economy honored the CRT, the National Chamber of the Tequila Industry, and six companies for their contribution to the country’s emblematic spirit.
Mexico City.— The Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) has been granted the “Made in Mexico” certification during the event “Tequila Made in Mexico: Tradition and Greatness,” held at the Executive Tower of the Ministry of Economy.
The certification was presented by Andrea Genoveva Solano Rendón, Head of the Regulatory, Competitiveness and Competition Unit, and Vidal Llerenas Morales, Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce, representing Secretary Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón.
During the ceremony, Solano Rendón highlighted tequila’s role as a symbol of national identity and as an example of collective industry effort.
“The Made in Mexico seal represents not only quality and trust but also the dedication of an industry committed to excellence and the country’s economic strength,” she stated.
Undersecretary Vidal Llerenas emphasized tequila’s global relevance, noting its impact on investment, exports, and job creation.
“Tequila is a national pride — a product that embodies Mexico and serves as a benchmark for other industries,” he said.
Representing CRT President Aurelio López Rocha, the organization’s Director General Ramón González Figueroa recognized the distinction as a reaffirmation of the sector’s commitment.
“The Tequila Designation of Origin is a symbol of culture, tradition, and identity — a natural bearer of the Made in Mexico mark, reflecting the dedication of agave growers and producers,” he noted.
The National Chamber of the Tequila Industry (CNIT) and six additional companies also received the certification, bringing the total to over 135 organizations that have been awarded the Made in Mexico distinction within the tequila industry.
CNIT President Roberto Ciprés underscored the significance of the certification as a result of strong collaboration between the public and private sectors.
“The Made in Mexico brand is more than a label; it is a promise — one built on integrity, commitment, and transparency,” he said.
The “Made in Mexico” certification is an official distinction granted free of charge to individuals or organizations whose products or services meet national production standards, quality benchmarks, and sustainability commitments.
As part of the event, participants attended conferences addressing the global outlook of tequila, quality standards, traceability, and market intelligence for exports.
